The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (1-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) opened its 2015 on Saturday night, Feb. 21 with a 24-3 win over Loras College (0-1) at the dome-covered Edor Nelson Field in Minneapolis, Minn. The two-day trip concludes on Sunday, Feb. 22 with a 3 p.m. game versus Augsburg (0-1).
In the win over Loras, Carthage led, 14-3, at halftime.
Madison Griffin (So., Parker, Colo./Ponderosa) led the Lady Reds with seven goals, six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Rachel Mussell (Fr., Mendota Heights, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) scored five goals with three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while
Hannah Bellenbaum (Sr., Lake Oswego, Ore.) had four goals with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Goalkeeper
Taylor Sopron (Jr., La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) played the first 43 minutes and collected five saves.
