The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (1-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) opened its 2015 season on Saturday, Feb. 14 with an 11-4 win over Southwestern University (Texas, 0-1) at Rhodes College's Crain Field in Memphis, Tenn.

Carthage jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first period and led by seven points, 8-1, at halftime and 10-1 at the end the third period.Â
Luke Seydel (Fr., San Diego, Calif./Westview) and
Billy Lane (So., Centennial, Colo./Kent Denver) had two goals and one assist each.Â
Timothy Francis (Sr., Costa Mesa, Calif./Huntington Beach),
Jared Ferrell (Jr., Trabuco Canyon, Calif./El Toro) and
John Salerno (Jr., Western Springs, Ill./La Grange-Lyons Township) scored two goals each. Goalkeeper
Ryan Smith (So., Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe) collected 10 saves.

On Sunday, Feb. 15, the Red Men take on Rhodes (1-0) in a Noon contest, also at Crain Field.
