KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds have advanced to the 2015 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament following an overtime win at Art Keller Field Saturday over Elmhurst, 2-1.

Kara Aittama and team manager Carla Nuzzo were honored for their time with the Lady Reds.

With the win the Lady Reds clinch the fourth and final tournament spot and finish the regular season at 6-11-1 and 3-3-1 in the CCIW.

Down 1-0 late in the match, Carthage senior
Rachel Post took a cross from defender
Kayla McGuinness and put it off the crossbar and into the net to tie it at 1-1 in the 88th minute.

The goal ignited the Lady Reds and with 20-seconds remaining in regulation a cross found
Erin Ganzke at the top of the six-yard box but her shot was blocked from point blank to preserve the 1-1 game and Elmhurst escaped to go into overtime.

In overtime
Lauren Szumski played a cross to the back post in the 96th minute where
Amy Kappelman had her first shot saved but volleyed her rebound past the near post for the golden goal winner.

For Kappelman it was her first goal of the season and it sent the Lady Reds into the CCIW tournament for the first time since 2013.
