ResultsThe Carthage College men's track and field team (40-10 outdoor record), ranked 13th in April 21 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III outdoor poll, won the Saturday, April 26 Wisconsin Private College Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Wisconsin Lutheran Raabe Stadium in Milwaukee. The Red Men won the eight-team event with 211.50 points, followed by St. Norbert College second at 186, Ripon College third at 128.50, Edgewood College fourth at 84, Cardinal Stritch University fifth at 40, Wisconsin Lutheran sixth at 39, Lakeland College seventh at 19 and Marian University (Wis.) eighth with 11 points.
Carthage collected wins from
J.D. Fuller (Jr., Woodstock, Ill.) in the 1,500-meter run (4:06.71),
Darin Ward (Fr., Fond du Lac, Wis./St. Mary's Springs) in the 110-meter hurdles (15.45),
Mark Balmes (So., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) in the shot put (52-6 ¾) and
Derrik Guyette (Jr., Hortonville, Wis.) in the hammer throw (175-9).
Carthage travels to Naperville, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, May 2-3 for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium (10 a.m. both days).
