Carthage's
Alex Boomgarden (So., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 19-12) lost to the Thunder's Ryan Kreis at No. 1 singles, Kreis winning, 6-3, 6-3.
Ryan Jump (So., Mundelein, Ill., 19-9) won over Justin Ancona at No. 2 singles, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Pawel Jaworski (Fr., Deerfield, Ill., 19-9) lost at No. 3 singles.
Chris Conley (So., Elm Grove, Wis./Brookfield Academy, 18-10) was a winner at No. 4 singles, as was
Tony O'Connell (So., Roswell, N.M./Natabua, 21-8) at No. 5 singles and
Alex Ferruzzi (So., Kenosha, Wis./Salem-Westosha Central, 16-11) at No. 6 singles. Carthage's No. 1 doubles team of
Pawel Jaworski and
Chris Conley (9-6) lost to Wheaton's Ryan Kreis and Josh Ward, 8-4. The Red Men's No. 2 team of
Alex Boomgarden and
Ryan Jump (10-4) was a winner over the Thunder, but Carthage's No. 3 tandem of
Tony O'Connell and Alex Feruzzi (5-5) lost.
Carthage opens play in the CCIW Men's Tennis Championship with a first-round match on Tuesday, April 29 on a campus site. The championship concludes in Elmhurst, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, May 2-3.
