Results

The Carthage College men's track and field team (33-10 outdoor record), ranked 18th in April 14 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III outdoor poll, finished second at the Friday, April 18 Augustana College (Ill.) "Meet of Champions" at the Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complexn Rock Island, Ill. 

The host-Vikings won the nine-team event with 249 points, followed by Carthage second at 143, Wisconsin-Whitewater third at 140, Wisconsin-Platteville fourth at 133, Wisconsin-Stevens Point fifth at 124.50, Monmouth College sixth at 117.50, Luther College seventh at 61, St. Ambrose University eighth at 27 and Concordia University (Wis.) ninth with one point.
 
Carthage's Derrik Guyette (Jr., Hortonville, Wis.) won the hammer throw (176-7) and finished second in the both the discus (165-5) and the shot put (53-5 ½).  Darin Ward (Fr., Fond du Lac, Wis./St. Mary's Springs) won the 110-meter hurdles (14.93) and was second in the long jump (22-0 ¼).  Mark Balmes (So., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) won the shot put (53-11 ¾) and finished fourth in the discus (159-4).  Carthage's Trevor James (Sr., Maywood, Ill./Chicago-Hope Academy) won the high jump (6-11).  David Goodalis (So., Naperville, Ill./Central) was second in the hammer throw (172-11), as was Michael Von Borstel (So., Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) in the 5,000-meter run (15:25.66).  Kendric Cornelius (So., Palatine, Ill.) took fourth place in the 400-meter dash (48.96).
 
Carthage will split squads on the weekend of Friday-Saturday, April 25-26, sending part of the team to the Drake University Relays in Des Moines, Iowa on April 25-26, and the remainder of the squad to the Wisconsin Private College Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Wisconsin Lutheran College's Krauss-Miller-Lutz Outdoor Athletic Complex in Milwaukee on April 26.
