Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 The Carthage College men's volleyball team (5-4, 0-0 Continental Volleyball Conference), ranked 10th in the Feb. 4 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, went 2-1 at the Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 8-9 Continental Volleyball Conference's "East/West Crossover Tournament" at the College of Mount St. Joseph's Harrington Center in Cincinnati. 
 
Carthage opened tournament play on Saturday, Feb. 8 with a 3-0 sweep of No. 11 Stevenson University (5-2) before losing to No. 1 Juniata College (9-1) by a 3-2 margin.  The Red Men's winning set scores over the Mustangs were 25-18, 25-17 and 25-14, and the Eagles' winning scores over the Red Men were 25-23, 23-25, 18-25, 25-21 and 15-7.  On Sunday, Feb. 9, Carthage swept Eastern Mennonite University (4-4), 3-0, with winning scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 26-24.
 
In the win over Stevenson, Carthage's Jim Schultz (Sr., Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) collected a match-high eight kills, while Jeff Beach (Sr., St. Charles, Ill./North) had seven kills with a .600 attack percentage, one block solo and six block assists.   Juniata's Paul Kuhn collected 12 kills in the win over Carthage.  Jim Schultz had a match-high 17 kills and block assists.  Jon Storm (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) had 12 kills, and Matt Klingspohn (Jr., Glendale, Wis./Nicolet) added 10 kills.  Setter Connor Wexter (Sr., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) averaged 9.00 assists per set.  In the win over Eastern Mennonite, Jim Schultz had 10 kills and four block assists, while Connor Wexter averaged 9.67 assists per set.
 
Carthage opens at home on Saturday, Feb. 15 by playing host to St. Xavier University (1-9) in a 1 p.m. match at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
