The Carthage College men's track and field team (45-10 indoor record), ranked 18th in the Feb. 19 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, finished fifth at the Saturday, Feb. 22 Wisconsin-Stevens Point "Eastbay Invitational" at the Quandt Fieldhouse in Stevens Point, Wis.

Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the 20-team event with 115.33 points, followed by Wisconsin-La Crosse second at 108, Wisconsin-Eau Claire third at 94, Wisconsin-Stevens Point fourth at 88, Carthage fifth at 65, Wisconsin-Stout sixth at 29.66, Carroll University (Wis.) seventh at 28, St. Norbert College eighth at 22, the VS Sport Track Club ninth at 18, Ripon College 10th at 17, Wisconsin-Whitewater 11th at 14, Lakeland College 12th at 10, Cardinal Stritch University 13th with nine points, North Central College 14th with eight, Lawrence University 15th with six, the Greater Milwaukee Track Club 16th with four, Marian University (Wis.) and Washington University (Mo.) tied for 17th place with two points each, and the Milwaukee School of Engineering tied for 19th place with a UW-Stevens Point alumni team with one point each.

Carthage's
Calvin Callahan (Jr., Bedford, Ind./North Lawrence) finished second in the pole vault (14-11 ½), as did
Mike Brown (Jr., St. Charles, Ill./East) in the triple jump (43-5 1/4).Â
Darin Ward (Fr., Fond du Lac, Wis./St. Mary's Springs) finished third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.39) and fourth in the long jump (21-7 ½).Â
Derrik Guyette (Jr., Hortonville, Wis.) was third in the weight throw (58-6 1/2), and
Dan August (Sr., Mokena, Ill./Frankfort—Lincoln-Way East) was fourth in the 3,000-meter run (8:54.19).

Carthage travels to Bloomington, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 28-March 1 for the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Indoor Track and Field Championship at the Illinois Wesleyan University Shirk Center Fieldhouse (1 p.m./10:30 a.m.).
