Women's Basketball Defeats Chicago, 67-55, on Nov. 30

Lady Reds Travel to Coe College on Friday

The Carthage College women's basketball team (3-2, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) defeated the University of Chicago (1-3), 67-55, on Sunday, Nov. 30 at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
 
The game was tied, 16-16, at 12:00 first half before Carthage used a 12-0 run to open up a 12-point lead, 28-16.  Kasey Kleiner connected on a pair of three-pointers during that run.  The Lady Reds extended their lead to 20 points, 39-19, late in the period and let by 17 at the break, 39-22.  Carthage was still leading by 17, 41-24, at 17:57, when Chicago took off on a 17-3 run to close the gap to three points, 44-41, at 12:28.  Ellie Greiner scored on two three-pointers during that stretch.  The Lady Reds went back up by 12, 55-43, at 7:27.  The Maroons got as close as six points, 59-53, at 3:30, but Carthage went on to win by 12 points, 67-55. 
 
Carthage shot 43 percent (26-60), including five-of-11 from three-point range, while Chicago shot just 33 percent (19-58), including 12-of-34 three-pointers.  The Lady Reds got to free-throw line 16 times and made 10, while the Maroons converted five-of-six.  Carthage out-rebounded Chicago by a 48-28 margin.
 
Alexis Hahn (Jr., Itasca, Ill./Roselle-Lake Park) led the Lady Reds with 16 points on eight-of14 field goals, along with 10 rebounds.  Kasey Kleiner (Sr., South Milwaukee, Wis./Somers-Shoreland Lutheran) had 15 points on five-of-nine shooting, including five-of-six three-pointers.  Taylor Boardman (Jr., Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North), who scored just six points, pulled down 10 boards.  Claire Devaney led the Maroons with 14 points and five rebounds.
 
Carthage travels to Iowa on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 5-6 for a pair of games.  The Lady Reds play Coe College (3-2) on Friday, Dec. 5 in a 6 p.m. game at the Moray Eby Fieldhouse in Cedar Rapids before taking on Clarke University on Saturday, Dec. 6 in a 3 p.m. game at the Kehl Center in Dubuque.
