Carthage qualified four individuals and a relay team for the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Among the four individuals.
Derrik Guyette (So., Hortonville, Wis.) finished ninth in the discus (168-9) and 12th in the shot put (52-11 1/2). Mark Balmes (Fr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) finished 11th in the discus (163-3).
Trevor James (Jr., Maywood, Ill./Chicago-Hope Academy) tied for 14th place in the high jump (6-6 3/4), and Quenten Austin (Fr., Vandalia, Ill./Community), finished 16th in the decathlon (5,424 points).
The Red Men's 4x400-meter relay team of Kendrick Cornelius (Fr., Palatine, Ill.),
Cale Brown (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), Mike Gulik (Fr., Elgin, Ill./Burlington-Central) and
Aryan Avant (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) also qualified but did not reach the finals.
This year's championship was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's Roger Harring Stadium at the Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wis., on Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25.
