Box Score The Carthage College men's volleyball team (9-5, 0-0 Continental Volleyball Conference), ranked sixth in the Feb. 19 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, lost to Quincy University (5-11), 3-1, on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 24 at Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Ill. The Hawks' winning set scores over the Red Men were 26-24, 26-24, 20-25 and 25-22.
John Pranger led Quincy with 17 kills and a .400 attack percentage. Steven Battaglia had 12 kills and hit .258 with a block solo and six block assists Ian Lawson had 13 kills and hit .355, with Jack Gamache adding 10 kills.
Jon Storm (So., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) led Carthage with 15 kills and a .238 attack percentage. Setter Conner Wexter (Jr., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) averaged 11.75 assists per set.
Carthage travels to St. Charles, Mo., on Friday-Saturday, March 1-2 to play in the Lindenwood University Tournament at the Hyland Performance Arena. On Friday, March 1, Carthage plays Lindenwood at 5 p.m. and Limestone College at 7 p.m. On Saturday, March 2, the Red Men take on King College (Tenn.) at 11 a.m. Following tournament play, Carthage journeys to St. Louis, Mo., to play Fontbonne University in a 7 p.m. match at Maybee Gymnasium.
