Men's Soccer Plays Millikin to a 1-1 Tie in Double-Overtime on Oct. 5

Red Men Play Host to Augustana (Ill.) on Wednesday

Box Score The Carthage College men's soccer team (8-4-1, 0-1-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) played CCIW-opponent Millikin University (2-7-2, 1-1-1 CCIW) to a 1-1 tie in double-overtime on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5 at the Millikin Soccer Complex in Decatur, Ill.

After 87 minutes of scoreless soccer, Carthage's Erhan Caglayan (Jr., Schaumburg, Ill.) broke the ice with a goal at 87:18, assisted by both Arnoldo Reyes and Austin Bitta. Less than two minutes later at 88:55, the Big Blue tied things up with a goal by Zach Solorio, assisted by Robert Nash. That was it for the scoring, as the two teams played through a pair of 10-minute overtime periods. Carthage had a 30-18 advantage in shots over Millikin, with Red Men goalkeeper Nick Huftalin (Sr., Rockford, Ill./Winnebago) collecting six saves.

Carthage plays host to CCIW-opponent Augustana College (Ill.) on Wednesday, Oct. 9 in a 7:30 p.m. game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
