The Carthage College men's indoor track and field team (4-4) finished fifth at the Friday, Jan. 18 North Central College “Cardinal Opener” at the Al B. Carius Track in Naperville, Ill.
Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the nine-team event, which ended after Midnight, with 147 points, five points ahead of second-place Wisconsin-La Crosse at 142. The host-Cardinals were third at 137, followed by Illinois-Chicago fourth at 82, Carthage fifth at 35, Aurora University sixth at 27, Wheaton College (Ill.) seventh at 20, Benedictine University (Ill.) eighth at 11 and St. Norbert College ninth with eight points.
Defending-national-champion
Trevor James (Jr., Maywood, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) won the high jump for the Red Men (6-9).
Derrik Guyette (So., Hortonville, Wis.) was fourth in the shot put (51-7 ¾).
Mike Brown (So., St. Charles, Ill./East) finished fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.08) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (22.91), while
Aryan Avant (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) took sixth place in the 400-meter dash (50.79).
Carthage plays host to the “Tadd Metzger Invitational” on Friday, Jan. 25 at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center in Kenosha, Wis., beginning at 3:30 p.m.
