The Carthage College men's track and field team opened its 2013 indoor season by playing host to the Private College Invitational on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 11-12 at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center in Kenosha, Wis. No team scores were kept for the event.
Eric Schmidt (Sr., Kewaunee, Wis.) won the weight throw (56-3).
Derrik Guyette (So., Hortonville, Wis.) was second in the weight throw (55-4 3.4), as was
Cale Brown (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) in the triple jump (44-2 ½). Quenten Austin (Fr., Vandalia, Ill./Community) took third place in the heptathlon (4,041 points.), as did
Nick Blakey (Sr., St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) in the triple jump (41-6 ½).
Mike Brown (So., St. Charles, Ill./East ) was fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.28), as was
Calvin Callahan (So., Bedford, Ind./North Lawrence) in the pole vault (13-5 ¼),
Branden Miller (So., Winfield, Ill./Wheaton-North) in the weight throw (47-7 ¾) and
D'Monti Fedele (Jr., Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) in the heptathlon (3,405 points). Carthage travels to Naperville, Ill., on Friday, Jan. 18 for the North Central College “Cardinal Opener” at the Al B. Carius Track, beginning at 5 p.m.
