The Carthage College men's track and field team (23-6) finished third at the Saturday, April 14 Wheaton College (Ill.) "Don Church Twilight Invitational" at McCully Stadium in Wheaton, Ill.
North Central College won the eight-team event with 303 points, easily out-distancing second-place Wheaton (Ill.) at 111. Carthage was third at 94, followed by Bethel University (Minn.) fourth at 78.50, the University of Chicago fifth at 73, Illinois Wesleyan University sixth at 58.50, Wisconsin-Parkside seventh at 24 and a partial Augustana College (Ill.) team eighth with one point.
Carthage's
Greg Raimondi (Sr., Harwood Heights, Ill./Norridge-Ridgewood) won both the shot put (51-6) and the discus (155-5 ¾).
Branden Miller (Fr., Winfield, Ill./Wheaton-North) took first place in the javelin (159-7 ¼).
Derrik Guyette (Fr., Hortonville, Wis.) was second in the shot put (50-3 ¼).
Eric Schmidt (Jr., Kewaunee, Wis.) finished third in both the discus (150-4) and the hammer throw (164-6 ¾).
Aryan Avant (So., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was third in the 400-meter dash (49.17) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (22.49).
The Red Men travel to Rock Island, Ill., on Saturday, April 21 for the Augustana College (Ill.) "Meet of Champions" at Ericson Field, beginning at Noon.
