The Carthage College men's volleyball team (22-4, 2-1 Continental Volleyball Conference), ranked second in the March 27 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, swept St. Xavier University (7-18), 3-0, on Wednesday, March 28 at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  The Red Men's winning set scores over the Cougars were 25-15, 25-21 and 25-18.

The Red Men's Randy Hansen (Sr., Oak Lawn, Ill.) had 11 kills with a .261 attack percentage, along with two block assists.  Pat Barry (So., Skokie, Ill./Wilmette-Loyola Academy) had 10 kills and hit .350, while Matt Yanz (Sr., Bolingbrook, Ill./Naperville-Central) added six kills with a block solo and five block assists.  Setter Connor Wexter (So., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) averaged 11.33 assists per set.  St. Xavier's Justin Cousin collected a match-high 17 kills and hit .268.

On Saturday-Sunday, March 31-April 1, Carthage plays in the CVC Weekend II Tournament at the Milwaukee School of Engineering's Kern Center in Milwaukee.  The Red Men take on Fontbonne University on Saturday at Noon, No. 1 the University of California-Santa Cruz on Saturday at 6 p.m. and the College of Mount St. Joseph on Sunday at Noon.
