The Carthage College men's track and field team opened its outdoor schedule on Saturday, March 24 at the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tenn. No team scores were kept.
Carthage's
Greg Raimondi (Sr., Harwood Heights, Ill./Norridge-Ridgewood), this week's CCIW outdoor track and field "athlete of the week," won both the discus (148-1) and the shot put (52-3 ¾) at the March 24 Rhodes College Invitational, while finishing second in the hammer throw (190-3).
Jake Mahaffey (Jr., Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) finished second in the 5,000-meter run (15:30.57), as did
Aryan Avant (So., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) in the 400-meter dash (49.58),
Cale Brown (So., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) in the triple jump (45-7 ¾) and
Eric Schmidt (Jr., Kewaunee, Wis.).
Marshall Stewart (Sr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was third in the 400-meter dash (49.91), as was
Ron Banks (Fr., Waukegan, Ill.) in the long jump (21-7 ½).
The Red Men travel to Naperville, Ill., on Saturday, March 31 to compete in the North Central College “First Chance Invitational” at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, beginning at Noon.
