No. 7 Women's Volleyball Outlasts No. 17 Chicago, 3-2, on Sept. 21

Lady Reds Travel to Elmhurst College on Tuesday

The Carthage College women's volleyball team (13-2, 2-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked seventh in the Sept. 20 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, outlasted non-conference opponent and No. 17 the University of Chicago (11-1), 3-2, on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the Ratner Athletics Center in Chicago. The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Maroons were 25-17, 17-25, 20-25, 25-17 and 15-10. 

Middle blocker Cindy Cavanagh Sr., Naperville, Ill./Aurora-Waubonsie Valley) had a team-leading 12 kills and hit .345 with five blocks (2 solo, 3 assisted). Outside hitter Michelle Madeja (Sr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) had 11 kills, and outside hitter Lauren Dembkowski (Sr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) added 10 kills. 

Carthage travels to Elmhurst, Ill., on Tuesday, Sept. 27 to take on CCIW-opponent and No. 24 Elmhurst College (13-3, 1-1 CCIW) in a 7 p.m. match at R.A. Faganel Hall.
