The Carthage College women's tennis team (1-1, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) opened its 2011-12 season on Thursday, Sept. 1 by splitting a home double-dual match with Lawrence University and Wisconsin Lutheran College at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.  Carthage was edged by Lawrence (1-0), 5-4, in the afternoon before defeating Wisconsin Lutheran (0-2), 8-1, on Thursday night. 
 
Carthage's Hollis McPeek (Sr., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 1-1) lost to Lawrence's Elizabeth Larson, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1 singles before defeating Wisconsin Lutheran's Kaitlyn Strehlow, 6-1, 6-1.  Bari Reynolds (So., Sterling, Ill., 2-0) defeated the Vikings' Jennifer Roesch, 6-0, 7-5, at No. 2 singles and won over the Warriors' Kathryn Hendree, 6-3, 6-3.  Kristina Naidicz (Sr., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper, 1-1) split at No. 3 singles, as did Erin Henrickson (Fr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale-South, 1-1) at No. 4 singles.  Abby Ludwig (Fr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge, 0-2) lost both of her No. 5 singles contests, while Amanda Bizub (Sr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) won both of her No. 6 singles matches.
 
Carthage's No. 1 double team of McPeek and Naidicz (2-0) swept both Lawrence and Wisconsin Lutheran, as did the Lady Reds' No. 2 team of Reynolds and Hendrickson (2-0).  Carthage's No. 3 tandem of Ludwig and Bizub (1-1) split.  On Saturday, Sept. 3, the Lady Reds travel to Whitewater, Wis., to play in the Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational at the Wangerin Tennis Courts, beginning at 9 a.m.
