The Carthage College men's track and field team (16-5-1 outdoor record) finished fourth at the Friday-Saturday, April 8-9 Chicagoland Outdoor Track and Field Championship at the University of Chicago's Amos Alonzo Stagg Field in Chicago.

North Central College won the 20-team event with 182 points, followed by Illinois-Chicago second at 116, Chicago third at 99, Carthage fourth at 69, Lewis University fifth at 56, Valparaiso University and Wheaton College (Ill.) tied for sixth place at 43 each, Harper College eighth at 39, Chicago State University ninth at 36, the College of DuPage 10th at 31.50, Olivet Nazarene University 11th at 27.50, Concordia University (Chicago) 12th at 25, Benedictine University (Ill.) 13th at 18, Oakton Community College 14th at 16, North Park University 15th at 14, the University of St. Francis (Ill.) 16th at 13, Trinity Christina College 17th with nine points, DePaul University and Elmhurst College tied for 18th place with seven points each and Aurora University 20th with six points.

Carthage collected the bulk of its points in the throws. The Red Men's Greg Raimondi (Jr., Harwood Heights, Ill./Norwood-Ridgewood) won the discus (153-5) and finished second in the hammer throw (169-7). Brad Fortney (Sr., Antioch, Ill./Community) won the shot put (51-9) and finished fifth in the discus (143-4), while Josh Brennan (Sr., Geneva, Ill.) won the hammer throw (189-10). Jarrayl Johnson (Sr., Flossmoor, Ill./South Holland-Thornwood) was third in the shot put (49-5 ½) and fifth in the hammer throw (155-11). Marshall Stewart (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (49.34).

Carthage travels to Rock Island, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, April 15-16 for the Augustana College (Ill.) “Meet of Champions” at Ericson Field, beginning at Noon each day.
