The Carthage College men's track and field team (20-10-1 outdoor record) finished sixth at the Saturday, April 16 Augustana College (Ill.) “Meet of Champions” at Ericson Field in Rock Island, Ill.
The host-Vikings win the 10 team event with 191.50 points, followed by Wisconsin-Whitewater second at 124, Wisconsin-Stevens Point third at 119.50, Monmouth College fourth at 107, Wisconsin-Platteville fifth at 92, Carthage sixth at 66, Luther College seventh at 63, St. Ambrose University eighth at 39, Loras College ninth at 25 and the University of Dubuque 10th with 20 points.
Carthage's Greg Raimondi (Jr., Harwood Heights, Ill./Norwood-Ridgewood) won the hammer throw (173-1) and finished second in the discus (154-6). Brad Fortney (Sr., Antioch, Ill./Community) won the shot put (52-11 ½). Jose Flores (Jr., Round Lake, Ill./Fox Lake-Grant Community) was second in the 800-meter dash (1:58.67), as was Prentis Wilbourn (Sr., Racine, Wis./Case) in the triple jump (43-10 ¾) and Jarrayl Johnson (Sr., Flossmoor, Ill./South Holland-Thornwood) in the shot put (51-5 ½). Marshall Stewart (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was fourth in the 400-meter dash (50.58) and Justin Sebens (Sr., Seymour, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour) finished fifth in the 3,00-meter steeplechase (9:43.76).
Carthage travels to Oshkosh, Wis., on Friday, April 22 for the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational at the UW-Oshkosh Sports Complex, beginning at 2 p.m.
