The Carthage College men's volleyball team (6-8, 1-0 Midwest-III Conference), ranked 10th in the Feb. 15 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, opened its Midwest-III Conference schedule on Tuesday, Feb. 15 with a 3-0 win over No. 14 the Milwaukee School of Engineering (1-7, 0-1 M-III) at the Kern Center in Milwaukee. The Red Men's winning set scores over the Raiders were 25-15, 25-15 and 25-17.

Leading, 15-13, in the first set, Carthage opened up an eight-point lead, 22-14, and went on to win by 10 points, 25-15. In the second set, the Red Men opened up an 11-point margin, 21-10. MSOE whittled the lead down to eight, 23-15, before Carthage won by 10, 25-15. After taking a 10-5 lead in the third-and-final set, the Red Men never led by less than five points and went on to win by eight, 25-17.

Tom O'Connell (Sr., Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) led Carthage with 12 kills and a .750 attack percentage (12-0-16). Jim Schultz (Fr., Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) and Randy Hansen (Jr., Oak Lawn, Ill.) had eight kills each, Schultz with a .667 attack percentage. Setter Connor Wexter (Fr., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) averaged 10.33 assists per set. Max Martin topped MSOE with eight kills.

On Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 19, the Red Men travel to Cincinnati for the M-III Conference Crossover Tournament I at the College of Mount St. Joseph's Harrington Center. On Saturday, Feb. 19, Carthage plays Mount St. Joseph at 2 p.m. (all times EST) and Thiel College at 6 p.m. On Sunday, Feb. 20, the Red Men take on Fontbonne University at Noon.
