The Carthage College men's soccer team (7-4-2, 1-0-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) played CCIW-opponent Elmhurst College (4-4-4, 0-0-2 CCIW) to a 2-2 tie in double-overtime on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
Elmhurst took a 1-0 lead when Brett Harper scored at 24:00 first period, assisted by Matt Sterner. The Red Men tied the game, 1-1, with a goal by

Jordan Innis. The Bluejays went back up, 2-1, when Brian McMahon scored at 51:45, assisted by Ken Miller.
Mike Heika (So., Inverness, Ill./Palatine-Fremd) scored for Carthage on a free kick at 66:11 to knot the game at 2-2. That ended the scoring, as the two teams finished regulation, along with two overtime periods, still tied. Carthage out-shot Elmhurst, 24-10.
"Bittersweet is probably the best adjective for this game,” said Carthage coach
Steve Domin. “By definition, we did most things well today, controlled the tempo, won the shot battle, were dangerous in the final periods, but tied on the scoreboard. Not taking anything away from Elmhurst, as every game in conference is a true test, but this one we should have gotten more than one league point out of. I credit our guys for being down twice and battling back. These kids are really bleed Carthage, and the best thing is we still have some more that can help us in the stretch run."
The Red Men travel to Wheaton, Ill., on Wednesday, Oct. 12 to take on CCIW-opponent Wheaton College (Ill., 6-6-1, 0-1-0 CCIW) in a 7:30 p.m. game at Joe Bean Stadium.
