The Carthage College women's swimming team (3-0 dual meet record) opened its 2011-12 season by traveling to Michigan on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 28-29 to take on Albion College, Hope College and Olivet College in a quadrangular meet. The first day was conducted at Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Mich., with the second day at the Holland Aquatic Center in Holland, Mich.
Carthage defeated Albion, 252-80, won over Hope, 191-148, and defeated Olivet by a 226-88 margin.

Ashley Gladis (Fr., Batavia, Ill.) won four events, taking first place in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.77), the 200 breaststroke (2:35.51) and the 200 individual medley (2:15.71) and the 400 individual medley (4:53.27).
Ember McCoy (So., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) won both the 200 freestyle (2:00.75) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:58.53), while finishing second in the 500 freestyle (5:18.25).
Susan Peinsipp (So., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) won the 100 butterfly (1:01.20), while finishing second in the 200 butterfly (2:17.60) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:18.32).
Jensena Paul (Sr., Portage, Wis.) won the 200 backstroke (2:17.00), while finishing second in the 100 backstroke (1:03.09).
Allison Soper (Fr., Downers Grove, Ill./North) was second in both the 100 breaststroke (1:12.02) and the 200 breaststroke.
Kelly Loftus (So., Winfield, Ill./West Chicago) was second in the 100 butterfly (1;01.56).
Lisa Perdue (Fr., Whittier, Calif.) finished third in both the 200 freestyle (2:03.35) and the 500 freestyle (5:25.61), while
Megan Shover (Fr., Prospect Heights, Ill./Arlington Heights-St. Viator) was third in the 50 freestyle (25:47).
The Lady Reds also picked up four relay wins: their 200 freestyle relay squad of
Natalia Bialecka (So., Des Plaines, Ill./Park Ridge-Maine East), Perdue, Shover and Paul (1:41.21), their 200 medley relay team of Paul, Gladis, Loftus and Shover, the 400 freestyle relay team of Bialecka, Perdue, Loftus and Paul (3:44.92) and their 400 medley relay team of Paul, Gladis, Peinsipp and Bialecka (4:09.35). Carthage travels to Lake Forest, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 5 to take on Lake Forest College in a Noon dual-meet at the Lake Forest Sports Center.
