The Carthage College men's soccer team (7-5-2, 1-1-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) was blanked by CCIW-opponent Wheaton College (Ill., 7-6-1, 1-1-0 CCIW), 2-0, on Wednesday night, Oct. 12 at Joe Bean Stadium in  Wheaton, Ill.

Carthage was ranked sixth in the Oct. 11 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Central Region poll.  Following a scoreless first period, Wheaton broke the ice with a goal at 59:27  by Dan Pavlak from seven-yards out, assisted by Jason Lollar.  The Thunder tacked on a second goal in the final seconds of the game, as Jordan Golz scored on a breakaway at 89:52, assisted by Drew Golz.  Wheaton out-shot Carthage by six, 21-15.

Picking up our first loss in conference and the first in our last eight games stings a bit,” said Carthage coach Steve Domin.  “"I felt really good about this one despite being on the road and bit by the injury bug.  Wheaton is a championship team, but we were a little unlucky not landing one of our 16 shots.  Zak Khoshbin and Milan Tijanic where steady for us all night, and we can't wait for another shot at Wheaton.”

The Red Men travel to Decatur, Ill., on Saturday, Oct. 15 to play conference-opponent Millikin University (0-13-0, 0-3--0 CCIW) in a 2:30 p.m. contest at the Millikin Soccer Complex.
