The Carthage College men's swimming team (5-1 dual-meet record),
ranked 22nd in the Dec. 15 CollegeSwimming.com/College Swimming Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III poll, played host to the Carthage Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis.  Carthage defeated Lewis University, 153-106; won over North Central College, 222-21; but lost to NCAA Division I Northwestern University by a 206-56 margin.
 
Carthage's Doug Schranck (Jr., Alton, Ill./Marquette Catholic) finished second in the 100 butterfly (52.88) and third in the 200 butterfly (1:59.65).  Kyle Drake (Sr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) was second in the 200 backstroke (1:55.33).  Bob Pellican (Sr., Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) was third in the 100 backstroke (54.28) and fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:02.05).  The Red Men travel to Milwaukee, Wis., on Sunday, Jan. 16 to take on Wisconsin-Milwaukee in a 1 p.m. dual meet at the Klotsche Center Natatorium.
