The Carthage College men's indoor track and field team (10-5) finished fifth at the Friday, Jan. 21 North Central College “Cardinal Opener” at the Al B. Carius Track in Naperville, Ill. North Central (Ill.) won the seven-team event with 174.50 points, followed by Wisconsin-Oshkosh second at 162.50, the University of Illinois third at 87, the University of Chicago fourth at 78, Carthage fifth at 54.50, Emory University sixth at 26 and Benedictine University (ill.) seventh with 10.50 points.
Carthage's Prentis Wilbourn (Sr., Racine, Wis./Case) was second in the triple jump (46-10), as was Jose Flores (Jr., Round Lake, Ill./Fox Lake-Grant Community) in the 800-meter run (1:56.40). Reggie Miller (Fr., Downers Grove, Ill./South) finished third in the long jump (21-9 ½), as did Marshall Stewart (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) in the 400-meter run (50.58). Jarrayl Johnson (Sr., Flossmoor, Ill./South Holland-Thornwood) took fourth place in the shot put (51-3 ¾). Carthage's 1,600-meter relay team picked up a win with a time of 3:24.29.
The Red Men play host to the “Tadd Metzger Invitational” on Friday, Jan. 28 at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center in Kenosha, Wis., beginning at 3 p.m.
