Red Men Travel to Thiel Tournament This Weekend

The Carthage College men's volleyball team (1-2), ranked ninth in the pre-season American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, lost to Lewis University (4-0), 3-0, on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville, Ill. The Flyers' winning set scores over the Red Men were 25-15, 25-19 and 25-20.

Jay Petty topped Lewis with 15 kills and a .619 attack percentage. Setter B.J. Boldog averaged 12.33 assists per set. Randy Hansen (Jr., Oak Lawn, Ill.) led the Red Men with 15 kills and a .296 attack percentage, while setter Connor Wexter (Fr., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) averaged 8.67 assists per set.

On Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 22-23, Carthage travels to Greenville, Pa., to play in the Thiel College “AVI Invitational” at Beeghly Gymnasium. The Red Men take on Juniata College on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m., EST. On Sunday, Jan. 23, Carthage plays Thiel at 11 a.m., EST and Nazareth College at 1 p.m., EST.
