The Carthage College women's swimming team (5-1 dual-meet record), ranked 11th in the Dec. 15 CollegeSwimming.com/College Swimming Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III poll, lost to NCAA Division I Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 167-90, on Sunday, Jan. 16 at the
Klotsche Center Natatorium in Milwaukee, Wis.
Carthage's
Amanda Croix (Sr., Bradley, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) won both the 50-freestyle (24.13) and the 200 freestyle (1:55.96), while finishing third in the 100 freestyle (52.94). Michelle Pelka (Sr., Elgin, Ill./Elgin Academy) won the 200 butterfly (2:09.60) and finished second in the 400 individual medley (4:38.84).
Kayla Orendorf (Fr., Bloomington, Ill./Normal-West Community) took second place in the 100 backstroke (1:02.04), as did Susan Peinsipp (Fr., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) in the 100 butterfly (1:02.43), Amy Mueller (Sr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) in the 500 freestyle (5:40.09) and Ember McCoy (Fr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) in the 1,650 freestyle (18:15.20).
Sarah Wodnik (Fr., Marian, Iowa/Linn-Mar) was third in the 100 butterfly (1:04.30), as was Maggie Knowles (So., Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) in the 200 breaststroke (2:38.74), Kristina Olack (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) in the 400 individual medley (5:22.32) and Courtney Boothe (Sr., Moline, Ill.) in the 500 freestyle (5:47.47). The Lady Reds travel to Wheaton, Ill., on Saturday, Jan. 22 to take on Wheaton College (Ill.) in a 1 p.m. dual meet at the Chrouser Fitness Center Natatorium.
