The Carthage College women's tennis team (11-8, 5-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) split a double-dual match on Wednesday, April 14 at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage lost to Wisconsin-La Crosse (16-2), 7-2, before defeating Edgewood College (10-10), 7-2.
Carthage's Gina Klein (Sr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South, 13-11) lost to Wisconsin-La Crosse's Kelly Kuether, 6-4, 6-1, at number-one singles before defeating Edgewood's Kelsey Steinhorst, 6-1, 6-0. Hollis McPeek (So., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 18-6) defeated the UW-La Crosse's Kelly Stadum, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7, at number-two singles and won over Edgewood's Amber Hemp, 6-1, 6-1. Kristina Naidicz (So., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper/UW-Oshkosh, 14-8) won both of her number-three singles contests. Ashley Morgan (Sr., Afton, Minn./Stillwater Area, 14-7) split at number-four singles, as did Amanda Bizub (So., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead, 9-5) at number-five singles. Alex Maniscalo (Jr., Lemont, Ill., 1-7) lost to Wisconsin-La Crosse at number-six singles and Kaitlyn Farrell (Jr., Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa Township, 1-2) fell to Edgewood, also at number-six singles.
Carthage's number-one doubles team of Klein and McPeek (17-7) lost to Wisconsin-La Crosse and won over Edgewood, as did the Lady Reds' number-two team of Naidicz and Morgan (4-4). Carthage's number-three tandem of Bizub and Farrell (Jr., Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa Township, 1-7) lost both of their matches. The Lady Reds play host to Wartburg College on Tuesday, April 27 in a 4 p.m. match at the Smeds Tennis Center.
