The Carthage College men's volleyball team (9-4, 2-0 Midwest-III Volleyball Conference), ranked sixth in the Feb. 2 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, swept a pair of matches on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Midwest III Conference Crossover Tournament I at Fontbonne University's Dunham Student Activities Center in St. Louis, Mo. Carthage defeated the College of Mount St. Joseph (0-6, 0-2 M-III) and Fontbonne University (1-1, 1-1 M-III), 3-0 each. The Red Men's winning set scores over the Lions were 30-9, 30-4 and 30-9, and their winning scores over the Rams were 30-20, 30-15 and 30-6.

In the Mount St. Joseph match, Carthage's Tyler Frings (So., Hubertus, Wis./Milwaukee-Pius XI) collected 11 kills and set a school record with a 1.000 attack percentage (11 kills, no errors, 11 attempts). Randy Hansen (So., Oak Lawn, Ill.) led the way against Fontbonne with kills and a.682 attack percentage, while Tom O'Connell (Jr., Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) had kills and hit .471. The Red Men play host to M-III opponent and No. 12 the Milwaukee School of Engineering (7-4, 2-0 M-III) on Wednesday, Feb. 10 in a 7:30 p.m. match at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
