The Carthage College women's swimming team (3-0 dual-meet record) ranked 11th in the Nov. 10 CollegeSwimming.com/College Swimming Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III poll, defeated Illinois Wesleyan University 154-137 on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Fort Natatorium in Bloomington, Ill. Carthage's Amanda Croix (Sr., Bradley, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) won three events, taking first place in the 50 freestyle (pool-record 24.56), the 100 freestyle (54.83) and the 200 freestyle (1:59.34).
Ember McCoy (Fr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) won both the 500 freestyle (5:23.65) and the 1,000 freestyle (11:08.63). The Lady Reds also collected wins from Amy Mueller (Sr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.03) and Susan Peinsipp (Fr., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) in the 200 individual medley (2:18.99). Carthage's 200 medley relay team of Kayla Orendorf (Fr., Bloomington, Ill./Normal-West Community), Mueller, Peinsipp and Croix was a winner, as was its 400 freestyle team of Natalia Bialecka (Fr., Des Plaines, Ill./Park Ridge-Maine East),
Sammy Jo Mahler (Sr., Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West), McCoy and Orendorf.
The Lady Reds travel to Crawfordsville, Ind., on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 19-20 for the Wabash College Invitational at the Class of 1950 Natatorium (7 p.m./10:30 a.m.)
