Ryan Thompson

Ryan Thompson enters his fifth season in 2018 as a part-time assistant under head coach L.J. Marx with the Red Men.
 
A familiar face to the Carthage men’s volleyball program, Thompson was a member of the Red Men program from 2004-2006 in which Carthage won the 2004 NIRSA Division II National Championship and was runner-up in the 2005 Molten Division III National Championship.
 
During his time on the sideline with the Red Men, Carthage has gone 55-1 in conference play, won two conference tournament championships, and twice advanced to the NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship Tournament, including an appearance in the final four in 2014. 
 
Additionally, Ryan spent the 2015 season working as the volunteer assistant for the Marquette University Women’s team, a team that advanced to the 2nd Round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship.
 
Along with coaching at the collegiate level, Thompson has served a coach for programs throughout the Milwaukee area including the Milwaukee Sting and West Allis Lightning Volleyball Club.
 
A 2007 graduate of Carthage with a degrees in business administration and marketing and a minor in Spanish, Ryan is a native of Elk Grove Village, Illinois where he also played his high school ball.  During his career he was a three-time member of their all-conference and all-area teams.
