Matt Reinsel

  • Title
    Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach
Matt Reinsel is in his second season as a Carthage College graduate assistant men's volleyball coach in 2020-21.

Reinsel's tenure as graduate assistant coach comes on the heels of a stellar four-year playing career for Carthage as a setter. The St. Louis, Mo. native concluded his collegiate career ranked second in school history with 3,714 assists, along with an 11.02 assists-per-set average. Reinsel claimed three-consecutive NCAA Division III statistical national championships in assists per set: 10.88 as a sophomore, 10.84 as a junior, and 11.95 (NCAA record) as a senior. His record-setting senior campaign landed him 2019 AVCA Division III Men's Player of the Year, joining Randy Hansen (2012) as the only two student-athletes in program history to accomplish that feat. Reinsel also secured 2019 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Offensive Player of the Year.

Reinsel is a four-time American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Men's All-American and a four-time member of the All-Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League squad. As a freshman in 2016, he was named both  AVCA Division III and MCVL Rookie of the Year.

In addition to his student-athlete obligations, Reinsel served as an assistant boys volleyball coach at Kenosha Tremper High School for three seasons from 2016 to 2018.

Reinsel graduated from Carthage in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in graphic design. He is currently working toward his master's in education, also from Carthage.
