Biography

2011:  Started all 10 games at cornerback…team’s fourth-leading tackler with 46 (37 solo, 9 assisted), including two tackles-for-loss…intercepted two passes and broke up three others.

2010:  Named first-team All-CCIW cornerback and “D3football.com” second-team All-North Region…played in all 10 games and made nine starts…led the CCIW in interceptions and ranked third in NCAA Division III with 10…CCIW leader and tied for first nationally with 13 passes defended…team’s fifth-leading tackler with 46 (39 solo, 7 assisted), including four tackles-for-loss…intercepted two passes in the Sept. 18 Concordia (Wis.) game…named CCIW “defensive player of the week” after returning two interceptions for touchdowns in the Red Men’s 48-24 win over Millikin on Oct. 9…intercepted three passes and broke up another in the season-finale versus Elmhurst on Nov. 13.

2009:  Played in nine-of-10 games and made seven starts at safety…team’s fifth-leading tackler with 45 (36 solo, 9 assisted)…intercepted four passes, including two in the Sept. 12 Hope game, and broke up three more…blocked a kick in the Sept. 19 Lakeland game.

2008:  Played in seven-of-10 games and made two starts…collected 12 tackles, including one tackle-for-loss.

High School:  Named All-Mid-Suburban League and Daily Herald all-area his senior year…set a Fremd High School career record for most interceptions…his four teams went a combined 38-4, and both his junior and senior-year squads won league titles and reached the Illinois High School Association Class 8A quarterfinals…coached by Mike Donatucci…member of the track and field team his junior year.

Personal:  Exercise and sport science major…his father, Karl Hipchen, played on the 1979-82 Carthage football teams, was a teammate of coach Tim Rucks and was named first-team All-CCIW in both 1981 and 1982…named to the spring 2011 Carthage dean’s list and to the fall 2011 Carthage athletic director's honor roll…born May 3, 1990.
