Gonzalo Gonzalez

    Assistant Baseball Coach
Gonzalo Gonzalez Jr. enters his sixth season as a part-time assistant baseball coach at Carthage College in 2020-21, serving as the program’s pitching coach and strength and conditioning coordinator.
 
Since joining Schmidt’s staff in 2016, Gonzalez has assisted in the development of three first-team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin pitchers: Jared Helmich, Tim Sulik and Kevin Tibor.
 
Prior to Carthage, Gonzalez worked at University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where he served as the pitching coach, strength and conditioning coordinator and as a lab instructor for the exercise physiology program.
 
As a player, Gonzalez spent time at Southwestern Oregon Community College and at Mount Sac Junior College before transferring to Pittsburg State University. At Pittsburg State, he pitched primarily as a reliever out of the Gorillas' bullpen. During his senior season, Gonzalez averaged more than a strikeout per inning of work.

Gonzalez also spent a season pitching for Marineros de Ensenada in the professional Mexican northern league.
 
He has also worked with Northeast High School in 2014, with Hitters Baseball Academy in Racine, Wis. in 2014-15, and with LMPT Precision Training in 2015-2016.

Gonzalez graduated from Pittsburg State in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in education and received his master's degree, also from Pittsburg State, in 2016 in human health wellness and performance with an emphasis on biomechanics.
