TARBLE ARENA:
15299Anyone who has visited Tarble Arena knows already how impressive a place it is. The dazzling $13.5 million renovation of the former Physical Education Center was completed in January 2009. Athletic director Bob Bonn says the renovation puts Carthage facilities among the top 10 percent of all NCAA Division III institutions. The Tarble Foundation of Los Angeles made a $5 million lead gift to the College to realize this vision.

Tarble Arena houses games and practices for men's basketball, women's basketball, men's volleyball and women's volleyball. The facility features a parquet floor, arena seating for 2,385 fans with all red seats and theatre-style chairs on the west side, a giant video board, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment. The video board and the ability to darken the house during pre-game introductions add a level of excitement unique to NCAA Division III arenas.

Tarble Arena also features an exercise physiology/athletic training rehabilitation laboratory, classroom space, seven locker rooms and coaches offices. The Tarble Arena Conference Center was made possible by the generous support of Al Van Maren ('95) and Marianne Kidd. The Dale Golf Center, an indoor golf practice center, was made possible by the generous support of David ('43) and Estelle Dale. The Marconi Athletic Strength Training Center was made possible by the generous support of Richard Marconi ('56).

The renovation, adjacent to the N.E. Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center, has created a modern, multi-sport complex that not only hosts Carthage sports events, but also regional high school games, performances by top musicians and comedians, and other community events.

The Tarble family has supported Carthage since the 1970s. Pat Tarble's 1998 gift of $11 million helped fund construction of the TARC, named in honor of her late husband, Newton Tarble, one of the founders of Snap-on Inc. Total Tarble family giving to Carthage exceeds $20 million. (SEE MORE FACILITIES)

Carthage College:
15300Founded in 1847, Carthage College is a four-year, private college of the liberal arts and sciences in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Carthage combines an environment of reflection and self-discovery with a culture of high expectation so our students uncover and ignite their true potential.

Carthage's campus is an 80-acre arboretum located on the shore of Lake Michigan, midway between Chicago and Milwaukee. The campus offers breathtaking views of Lake Michigan from almost every building on campus, including many residence hall rooms. Easy access to two major metropolitan areas gives students opportunities for real-world experience and networking.

A college education should do more than just get you a job. It should help you discover who you are, what you were created to do, and how you can work for the greater good. Carthage is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, but just because we're Lutheran doesn't mean you need to be. We share and welcome opinions, experiences, and stories of faith from religions around the world. Our Lutheran values mean we challenge you to ask the heavy questions, and strive to help our students develop a strong moral and intellectual compass.

Carthage fields 24 NCAA Division III teams competing in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. About a third of our student body participates in varsity intercollegiate athletics, and another third participates in the many intramural and club sports offered. (MORE ABOUT CARTHAGE)
