KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College women's soccer team battled Lake Forest College to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday evening at Art Keller Field. The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Malie Cassel scored in the 40th minute before the Foresters equalized late in the second half. Tatiana Valdez made six saves throughout the match to help Carthage secure the draw.

• Carthage created an early opportunity in the seventh minute when Bella Fusco recorded a shot.
• Ruby Hillegass tested Lake Forest goalkeeper Sara Swenson in the 12th minute, but Swenson made the save.
• Lake Forest generated several chances in the opening half, but Tatiana Valdez made saves on Sophia Key and Maggie Balas to keep the match scoreless.
• Malie Cassel  nearly broke through in the 26th minute, but her shot was saved by Swenson.
• Cassel gave Carthage the lead in the 39th minute, scoring on a breakaway to put the Firebirds ahead 1-0.
• Lake Forest nearly answered before halftime when Keighan Whitlock's shot hit the woodwork in the 41st minute, but Carthage maintained its 1-0 advantage heading into the break.
• The Firebirds continued to create chances early in the second half, with Lydia Sachs and Marin Mooney recording shots.
• Valdez made another save in the 59th minute on a shot from Annabelle Schroeder before stopping Whitlock's attempt in the 67th minute.
