WAUKESHA – The Carthage women's tennis team earned the road victory over the Carroll Pioneers on Sunday morning at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex. The Firebirds swept doubles play before cruising to a 5-1 victory over the hosting Pioneers.

 

In doubles play, Kamila Dobija and Niki Manojlovic got things started with a 6-2 win in No. 1 doubles over Nawal Souki and Katherine Trifilio. Rya Arreazola and Greta Peterson then earned a 6-2 win over Mia Franke and Grace Niebler in No. 2 doubles to secure the team point for the Firebirds. Valentina Huesca and Jordan Miller completed the doubles sweep over the Pioneers with a 7-6 (7-2) win over Madison Siminski and Megan Trifilio in No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Peterson gave the Firebirds a 2-0 advantage with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Niebler in No. 4 singles. Miller then defeated Souki in No. 5 singles with a final score of 6-1, 6-3. Manojlovic secured the win for the Firebirds in No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over K. Trifilio. The Pioneers cut the deficit to 4-1 in No. 3 singles as Franke defeated Dobija with a pair of 6-2 wins. Huesca extended the lead to 5-1 for Carthage with a 6-2, 6-1 win in No. 6 singles against Siminski.


 
The Firebirds (2-0, 2-0 CCIW) will return to action on Wednesday, Sep. 16 as the team opens the 2026-27 home schedule against Wheaton (Ill.) at Smeds Tennis Center. Action begins at 4 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
