Women’s Lacrosse Cruises Past Lake Forest at Home

Carthage 14, Lake Forest 3
KENOSHA - The Carthage women's lacrosse team delivered a dominant performance at Art Keller Field on Wednesday evening, defeating Lake Forest 14–3. The Firebirds set the tone early and maintained control throughout, using a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive presence to secure the win.

How it Happened
FIRST PERIOD
  • Carthage wasted no time getting on the board in the opening period.
  • Hannah Kim sparked the offense with the first goal at 13:17, finishing off an assist from Auggie Claridge. Just minutes later, Shannon Heitschmidt found the back of the net twice—first off a feed from Kyleigh Higgins and then again from Claridge—to extend the lead.
  • Rosie Nolan added to the surge with a goal midway through the period, again assisted by Claridge, before Piper LeFevre capped off the dominant quarter with a goal set up by Kelsey O'Brien
  • The Firebirds' defense held Lake Forest scoreless, giving Carthage a 5–0 advantage after one.
SECOND PERIOD
  • The Firebirds continued their momentum into the second period, with Nolan leading the charge. Nolan netted back-to-back goals—both assisted by Claridge—to complete the hat trick and push the lead to 7–0.
  • Lake Forest managed to break through in the final seconds of the half, but Carthage remained firmly in control heading into the break with a 7–1 lead.
THIRD PERIOD
  • Coming out of halftime, Carthage quickly put the game out of reach with a dominant third period. Claridge got in on the scoring with a goal assisted by Heitschmidt, then followed it up with an unassisted finish.
  • Nolan continued her standout performance, tallying her fourth goal of the game off an assist from O'Brien, while Heitschmidt added her third goal to complete the hat trick, again with O'Brien contributing the assist.
  • Lake Forest added a late goal, but Carthage still held a commanding 11–2 lead entering the final period.
FOURTH PERIOD
  • In the fourth, the Firebirds closed things out with continued offensive pressure.
  • O'Brien found the back of the net early in the period off another assist from Claridge, while Kim added her second goal of the game later on.
  • After a Lake Forest goal, Carthage had the final say as Reggie Ross scored in the closing seconds, assisted by LeFevre, to seal the 14–3 victory.
