TUCSON — The Carthage baseball team opened the first half of its spring break trip in Tucson, Arizona, with a pair of victories across five games. The Firebirds earned wins over Bethany Lutheran and Aurora while facing Hamline and Southwest Minnesota State, using timely offense throughout the opening stretch of the trip.

Game One

- Carthage opened the scoring when a fly ball from Paul Reedy was deep enough to score Ossenfort following an error by the catcher.
- The Firebirds extended the lead when Caden Meyer singled to bring home Christian Duarte.
- Duarte later added a solo home run to push the lead to 4-0.
- Carthage pitching and defense preserved the shutout the rest of the way to secure the victory.
Game Four
- Reedy put Carthage ahead in the second inning with an RBI triple to center field that scored Duarte.

- After the Mustangs added one run in the eighth and two in the ninth, Carthage's final push included a groundout that scored Ossenfort and a wild pitch that allowed Ston to cross the plate.
- A flyout and a fielder's choice ended the rally as Southwest Minnesota State secured the win.
