NASHVILLE — The Carthage women's bowling team wrapped up the regular season at the Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., competing against one of the nation's deepest tournament fields. The Firebirds showed resilience across the three-day event, finishing 29th after climbing two spots during Sunday's Baker match play.
Day one
- Carthage opened the tournament with a solid performance and finished the day in 26th place.
- Freshman Emmary Arciniega-Sanchez led the way with 89% single-pin spares, 70% multi-pin spares and an 82% fill rate.
- Sophomore Airie Frost recorded 91.6% single-pin spares and a 76.5% fill rate.
- Senior Isabel Gonzalez posted 82.3% single-pin spares, 77.7% multi-pin spares and an 80% fill rate.
- Sophomore Alicyn Klok contributed 85.7% single-pin spares, 77.7% multi-pin spares, a 41.3% strike rate and an 85.2% fill rate.
- Freshman Kyleah Baker finished with 75% multi-pin spares, a 40% strike rate and a 77.7% fill rate.
- Junior Maxine Lathrop added a 42.5% strike rate.
- Sophomore Emma Winter converted all single-pin spare opportunities for a 100% mark.
Day two
- The Firebirds struggled to maintain momentum and slipped to 31st place in the standings.
- Arciniega-Sanchez again delivered steady spare shooting with 89.4% single-pin spares, 76.9% multi-pin spares and an 82% fill rate.
- Gonzalez posted 92.8% single-pin spares and a 78% fill rate.
Day three – Baker match play
- Carthage rebounded with a strong showing in Baker match play to close the tournament.
- The Firebirds defeated Aurora, 4.5-1.5, in the opening match.
- Carthage followed with a 4-2 win over Indianapolis, a Division II program.
- The Firebirds completed the day with another 4-2 victory over Quincy, also a Division II program.
- The three wins helped Carthage climb to a 29th-place finish.
- Klok led the lineup with a 50% strike rate and a 77.7% fill rate.
- Gonzalez recorded 93% single-pin spares with a 77.7% fill rate.
- Frost posted 91% single-pin spares and an 86.1% fill rate.
- Winter remained perfect on single-pin spare attempts at 100%.
The tournament provided valuable experience for Carthage's young roster, which narrowly fell to five Division I programs while also recording victories over one Division I opponent and three Division II teams.
The Firebirds will conclude the season at the CCIW Championships in Moline, Ill., on March 21-22.
