Carthage Men’s Volleyball Earns Convincing Win Over MSOE

KENOSHA — The No. 2 Carthage men's volleyball team turned in a dominant showing Tuesday night, cruising past MSOE in straight sets. The Firebirds controlled the tempo throughout the match, building early leads in each set and closing efficiently to secure the sweep.

How it Happened
  • Carthage opened the match with a 14-7 advantage behind kills from Ryan Bartz, Ben Heise, and Hudson Sweitzer.
  • The Raiders answered to pull within two before kills from Owen Hendricks and Ruben Emmerich pushed the margin to 19-14.
  • Three consecutive kills from Bartz extended the advantage to 23-16, and Bartz finished the set with the final kill.
  • The Firebirds carried the momentum into the second set, jumping out to a 9-3 lead.
  • A solo block from Hendricks later stretched the advantage to eight.
  • Carthage closed the set on a 7-1 run to secure a 25-14 win.
  • MSOE briefly took a one-point edge in the third, but a kill from Heise sparked a response to make it 12-9.
  • Bartz added key kills to build a 20-13 lead, and Hendricks sealed the match with the final kill in a 25-17 decision.


High Flyers
  • The Firebird offense hit .479 in the contest (41 kills, six errors, 73 total attacks). 
  • Ryan Bartz had a match-high 17 kills, followed by Owen Hendricks with eight. 
  • Ryan Morey recorded 28 assists, pushing his career total to 1194. 
  • Austin Mallory had seven digs for Carthage on the day.
