Firebirds Surge Past Vikings, 103-66

KENOSHA — The Carthage men's basketball team used a strong first half and never looked back, pulling away for a 103-66 victory over the Vikings on Wednesday night. The Firebirds built a commanding 53-35 halftime lead and continued to control the tempo after the break to secure the home win.

How it Happened
  • The visitors opened the game for the Vikings with a layup. Riley Brooks responded with a three-pointer for the Firebirds to take the 3-2 lead. 
  • Carthage would start to heat up as they would go on a 9-0 run to extend the lead 16-8 with 12:53 to play in the first half. 
  • The Firebirds continued to add to their lead, making it 26-14 by going on another 8-2 run with 8:22 remaining in the half. 
  • Carthage ended the half leading 53-35. Brooks led the way, scoring 20 points for the Firebirds.
  • Antuan Nesbitt opened the second half with a three-pointer for the Firebirds. 
  • Nesbitt continued to stay hot and knocked down a jumper to push the Carthage lead, making it 62-41 with 16:38 to play. 
  • Carthage continued to control the game and went on a 15-2 run to make the lead 81-48 with 9:04 remaining. The home team pulled away to win 103-66. 


High Flyers
  • Riley Brooks went for a new career-high, finishing with 30 points. 
  • AJ Johnson added 22 points, going a perfect eight-for-eight from the line. 
  • Antuan Nesbitt and Ryan Johnson each added 11 points, with Ryan also grabbing nine rebounds. 
  • Griffin Daun led the team in rebounding with 11 boards, which was just one shy of his career best.
