Firebirds Close Battle on the Border Earning Commanding 2–1 Victory Over Bethel

KENOSHA  — The Carthage women's soccer team delivered a strong all-around performance Sunday afternoon at Art Keller Stadium, defeating Bethel 2–1 to close out the weekend on a high note.

The Basics
  • Final score: Carthage 2 - Bethel 1

How it Happened
  • The Firebirds wasted no time setting the tone. Just over five minutes in, Malie Cassel broke free from midfield and buried a shot past the Bethel keeper to give Carthage an early 1–0 advantage. 
  • Carthage struck again early in the second half when Jadynn Kramer slotted home a goal in the 49th minute, set up by Emma Amberg's assist (2-0). 
  • In the 86th minute, Bethel surged back into the match with a goal to cut the deficit. However, the Firebirds' defense stood tall under pressure, closing out the final minutes with composure to secure the 2–1 victory.
High Flyers
  • The Firebirds recorded 13 shots, with six of them on goal.
  • Carthage outbeat Bethel in corner kicks 6-5.
  • Ainsley Stallworth collected five saves in goal.
