Hosea Earns CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Josie Hosea of the Carthage women's wrestling team has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Hosea, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., went a perfect 5-0 last weekend to win the 160-pound division at the Hiram Terrier Round Robin in Hiram, Ohio. Hosea opened the day with a 10-0 tech fall over Amelia Collins of Indiana Tech before defeating Alfred State's Jyla Johnson with a 6-1 decision. Hosea then earned a win over Hiram's Allydia Byard, before defeating Cicely Cullins of Hiram with a 2-1 decision to advance to the championship match. Hosea won by forfeit over Emma Hanrahan of Mount Union to claim the top spot on the podium.

The Firebirds return to action on Friday as the squad heads to Marquette, Mich. for the Northern Michigan Duals. Action is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
