Women's Volleyball Sweeps Carroll to Secure No. 2 Seed in CCIW Tournament

Carthage 3, Carroll (WI) 0 (25-17, 25-16, 27-25)
WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carthage women's volleyball team closed the regular season in dominant fashion on Friday night, sweeping Carroll (WI) inside Van Male Fieldhouse to secure their 20th win of the year and improve to 5-3 in CCIW play. The Firebirds have secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CCIW tournament with tonight's win.

Carthage came out sharp in the opening frame, hitting .406 as a team behind a balanced attack from Kristina Manojlovic and Madilyn Danielson. The Firebirds turned an early 8-8 tie into a commanding lead with back-to-back blocks by Emma Crow and Ava Dettwiler before closing out the set 25-17 on a kill from Manojlovic.

The Firebirds maintained control in the second set, again limiting the Pioneers to a .057 hitting percentage while hitting .314 themselves. Strong serving runs from Tatum Kebisek and Jenna Damon sparked a mid-set surge, and Danielson and Dettwiler combined for 10 kills in the frame as Carthage cruised to a 25-16 victory.

Carroll battled back in the third, trading points through eight ties and four lead changes. Manojlovic delivered clutch kills late, and Emma Crow capped the match with back-to-back kills followed by a final block assist alongside Hailey Wierzgac to seal the 27-25 win and complete the sweep.

"Big CCIW road win at Carroll tonight!!" said Head Coach Leanne Ulmer. "So proud of this team and their grit and fight these past three matches! We won the serve and pass battle in sets 1 and 2 along with some high percentage hitting from Tina Manojlovic, Madi Danielson and Ava Dettwiler. Tatum Kebisek and Ava Dettwiler ran a very effective offense. The third set was back and forth and we had to grind to tie it up and take it in extras. Cassidy Stahl went on a strong service run to keep us in the match. Tina Manojlovic and Jenna Damon had some incredible digs and Hailey Wierzgac and Emma Crow got the stuff block to end it. Now we have secured the 2 seed in the CCIW tournament and will host at Carthage next Thursday the 13th!"

The Firebirds (20-11, 5-3 CCIW) return to action on Thursday, Nov. 13 as the squad will host the semifinals of the CCIW Tournament. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
