ELMHURST — The Carthage College men's soccer team earned a hard-fought College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) win of the season Saturday evening, defeating Elmhurst 2-0 at Langhorst Field.

- The Firebirds wasted no time getting on the board. Just over a minute into the match, a Carthage corner kick created traffic in the box, resulting in an own goal by Elmhurst to give the Firebirds a 1-0 advantage.
- Carthage continued to control play throughout the first half, capitalizing again in the 27th minute.
- Dennis Valle netted his third goal of the season off an assist from Emmitt Hansen, doubling the lead to 2-0.
- The Firebirds' back line and goalkeeper Aaron The kept Elmhurst in check the rest of the way. The finished with four saves, earning his second shutout of the year.
- Carthage outshot the Bluejays 15-9, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.
- Hansen recorded the lone assist, while Valle's first-half goal stood as his third goal of the season.
