Curulewski Qualifies for NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Jacob Curulewski of the Carthage men's cross country team has been selected to compete at the 2025 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, the NCAA announced Sunday. This is Curulewski's second time qualifying for the National Championship meet following the Firebirds team appearance at the 2024 NCAA Championships

Curulewski, a senior from Downers Grove, Ill., qualified for the NCAA Championships following a fifth-place performance at the 2025 NCAA Division III North Region Championships on Saturday, Nov. 15 in Colfax, Wis. Curulewski finished the race in 24:35.3, less than 12 seconds behind the winning time.

Curulewski has claimed three individual wins during the 2025 cross country season. The senior claimed the victory at the Firebirds first meet of the season, the Wis-Parkside Vic Godfrey Open, winning the 6,000-meter race in 18:41.3. The second win of the year came at the Wheaton (Ill.) Gil Dodds Invitational, where Curulewski ran away from the field and crossed the finish line in 24:41.0. The third victory came on Nov. 1, as Curulewski ran a personal best 23:57.2 and became the first CCIW individual champion for the Carthage Firebirds since 2002. Curulewski was also the first student-athlete from a school other than North Central (Ill.) to win the CCIW Championship race since 2008.

"Making the NCAA Championship meet as an individual is a great accomplishment, especially out of our highly competitive region," said Head Coach Josh Henry. "The fact that Jacob made that feat look routine is indicative of how dominant he has been this season. He has high goals for the Championship Race this weekend and he's ready to do something special in South Carolina."

Curulewski will compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, S.C. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
