BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Carthage softball team hit the road on Saturday to take on the Illinois Wesleyan Titans. It was a tough day for the Firebirds, as the Titans outscored Carthage 18-1 and handed the Firebirds a pair of losses.



GAME 1

• A single and an error brought home a pair of runs for the Titans in the bottom of the first inning to give the home squad a 2-0 lead.
• Three walks and four hits allowed for five runs to come home in the Titans half of the second, lifting the Illinois Wesleyan lead to 7-0.
• Six hits in the home half of the fourth allowed for five more runs to score, giving the Titans a 12-0 lead and enforcing the run rule after the fifth inning.

GAME 2

• Five singles and an error brought four runs home in the Illinois Wesleyan half of the second inning, giving the Titans an early 4-0 lead.
• A single, a triple, and a groundout led to another pair of runs coming home for the Titans in the top of the seventh innings, furthering the Firebirds deficit to 6-0.
• In the bottom of the seventh, Clare Rettler hit into a fielder's choice to 

 

• Rettler went 3-4 in game two with an RBI.
• Olivia Hristov and Peyton Kryza both went 2-3 in game two.
